Some examples of sport managers include the front office system in professional sports, college sports managers, recreational sport managers, sports marketing, event management, facility management, sports economics, sport finance, and sports information. Sports management degrees provide students with fundamental knowledge and skills centered on finance, management, marketing and law pertaining to the organizations in the sports industry. The coursework in sports management degree programs typically prepare students for careers with amateur, collegiate and professional sports organizations. These students are able to capitalize on several different types of sport related opportunities after graduating from a sports management program. Many established business professionals decide to go back to school in order to make a successful career transition into the sports industry. Our curriculum explores the cultural and business impact of sports -- through hands-on, real-world case studies and consulting projects led by our world-renowned faculty. Our students are actively engaged with our faculty, academic advisors, and alumni mentors. This leads to dynamic internships, as well as other outstanding professional development activities. SM majors also participate in -- and often lead -- student-run campus groups, such as: Sport Business Association(SBA); Michigan Women Empowerment in Sport and Entertainment(MWESE); Michigan Sport Consulting Club (MSCC); Michigan Sports Analytics (Society MSAS).
